Maintenance
Cover
- For home washing of covers, follow the symbols on the technical sheet that came with the product.
- Periodically adjust the Velcro fasteners to remove folds and creases due to normal use of the product.
- If there are no Velcro fasteners, smooth the cover manually from the inside towards the outside.
- For ordinary cleaning, dust with a soft dry cotton cloth.
- If liquids should accidentally fall on the surface, remove them immediately and dry with paper towels.
- The surface can then be cleaned with a white cotton or microfibre cloth, slightly damp with water and neutral soap, and then dried in a well-ventilated place.
- In case of stains, act immediately to blot the stain with a clean white cloth and, if necessary, remove the dirt with a spoon or knife, using the flat part horizontally and being very careful to not ruin the cover.
- Dab the stain from the outer edges inward to avoid rings.
- All actions must be done with circular movements, without exerting excessive mechanical pressure.
- Our Stores and dealers sell the specific 'Kit for leather maintenance and cleaning' by B&B Italia (code SETPN), which contains products suitable for the protection and cleaning of your leather product.
Teakwood
Teakwood comes from various tectona plants that are common in tropical countries. As a result of its strong resistance to humidity and of its internal content of oily substances, it is considered a very precious wood type especially for outdoor environments. It must be said that wood is a living material that reacts to external agents; hence, it is normal and natural to note a variation in the shade of colour as time goes by. The change in colour over time is not a defect. On the contrary, it is a natural characteristic of this wood that lives and reacts to the outside environment with an aging/oxidation process which does not alter the structural integrity of the product.
- For ordinary maintenance, we advise using a slightly abrasive sponge with neutral soap.
- Avoid using products that contain solvents and/or alcohol.
- To help maintain the original colour over time, waxes are available in stores. Always be sure to follow the directions that come with the product that you purchase.
- However, it is always advisable to protect the product from extreme temperatures that can cause cracks to form in the wood.
- Direct contact with rain can cause the release of the oily resin contained naturally in the wood, which generates pigmented halos on any surface that they come in contact with. In this case, it is advisable to remove the substance with a normal degreasing detergent.
- Moreover, please note that, being in direct contact with the frame, particularly light-coloured cushions are more subject to rings forming.
- Our Stores and dealers sell the specific 'Kit for teakwood maintenance and cleaning” by B&B Italia (code K_TKN), which contains products suitable for the protection and cleaning of your teakwood product.
Stainless steel
- Stainless steel requires periodic cleaning with a solution of warm water and neutral soap, and then rinsing with plenty of water and drying carefully with a cloth or paper towels to avoid stains caused by hard water deposits.
- For more specific cleaning, there are products available in stores that were specifically designed for stainless steel surfaces.
- Never use solvents and abrasive detergents, chlorides, hydrochloric acid, bleaches with a hypochlorous base or strong acids, products for cleaning silver, abrasive sponges or scrapers. Avoid contact with very hot objects.
- Warning! If this simple maintenance is not done, pitting can occur - a condition of ugly rust dots that can be removed with specific degreasing products.
Cover cloth
- Elasticised technical textile, waterproof, developed to protect furniture from weather when not in use.
- If condensation forms under the cloth, it will not damage product quality.
- Wash the cloth according to the instructions printed on the underside of the cloth and let dry completely in the open air before storing in a closed place in order to prevent mould from forming.
- When the product is no longer used, do not abandon it, but take it to a suitable public waste collection facility.
- Always remember to be careful not to use the product improperly, considering its designated functions.
