Maintenance
Cover (Kasia leather)
- Regularly clean with a soft, dry cotton cloth to release the dust from the pores. Avoid strenuous rubbing.
- If the cover is stained, immediately pat the stain with a paper towel or dry cloth. Try to absorb the stain without vigorous rubbing.
- Never apply a liquid on this leather - not even detergent specially designed for cleaning it.
- For further information on Kasia leather, kindly read the attached brochure.
Cover (Alfa, Beta, Gamma, Koto leather)
- For regular cleaning, we recommend a weekly dusting with a soft cotton cloth. If the cover is stained, promptly remove the cause and dry the affected area.
- Finally, wipe with a sponge dampened with water and mild detergent (or water and milk).
- Wipe with a gentle circular motion and work from the outside of the stain toward the inside.
- The action should be more like a skin massage than mechanical rubbing.
- Before applying any product over broad areas, it is advisable to test the effectiveness of the procedure by applying the product on a small, hidden area, even though the product may be specifically designed for the material.
- After cleaning, apply a solution of water and milk to restore the protective qualities and softness of the leather.
- Remember that leather treated with aniline is highly absorbent and may require more frequent cleaning when subjected to heavy-duty use in high-traffic areas.
- Two or three times a year, we recommend applying products included in the 'Kit for leather maintenance and cleaning' by B&B Italia (code SETPN) using a soft cloth. The kit is available from our Stores and dealers.
Cover (merino)
- Occasional fur loss is to be considered a normal feature of fur-on hides.
- To remove loose fur and for ordinary maintenance, use a vacuum cleaner with soft brushes and/or a brush with soft bristles. Brush with the grain of the fur.
- If the surface is stained (e.g. oil-grease), wipe with a white cotton cloth dampened with water and mild soap. Wipe with the grain of the fur and avoid wetting the wool fur excessively.
- If the fur becomes impregnated with water or other liquids, dry with a hair dryer - even at its high temperature setting - but be sure to hold the dryer at least 30 cm away from the fur.
- Do not use products containing alcohol, ammonia or vinegar, since they could weaken the fur over time.
Wood - Painting
- For weekly maintenance, dust the surface with a dry cloth.
- For dried dirt, use a well-squeezed out cloth, damp with warm water.
- For greasy or oily dirt, use a damp sponge and dish washing detergent, and then wipe with a well-squeezed out cloth damp with warm water.
- Warning! Apply the detergent directly on the damp sponge, and never on directly on the furniture.
- Do not exert excessive pressure and always follow the grain on wood furniture.
- Note that if you press or rub too hard, surfaces can become 'polished'.
- Avoid using abrasives and products containing solvents, ammonia and/or alcohol.
- Make sure to dry the surfaces completely after washing.
Aluminium
- We advise using normal commercial products for cleaning delicate surfaces and/or warm water and neutral soap.
- Never use abrasives or products containing solvents, ammonia and/or alcohol.
- Make sure to dry the surfaces completely after washing.

Designer
Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien
Doshi Levien was founded by the designers Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, who met at the Royal College of Art. The London based studio is internationally renowned for its marriage of culture, technology, industrial design and fine craftsmanship. Nipa grew up in India and studied at the National Institute of Design; Jonathan trained in fine cabinet making followed by industrial design.
Together, they strive to create work that transcends rational and functional qualities, to imbue a sense of true inner beauty in their projects. Nipa’s practice is rooted in her plural upbringing and astute eye for visual culture; and Jonathan’s in industrial precision, combined with the sensibility of a maker’s hand and deep understanding of materials. What makes their work so distinctive is not just their confident relationship to colour, material and form, but the ability to translate meticulous design ideas to the context of production. This has enabled them to work coherently across industries and categories, including lighting and furniture.
The duo have created works for leading manufacturers, for prestigious international museums and cultural institutions. In 2008 Nipa and Jonathan were awarded the prestigious Future Legends of Design by the Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design in New York. They have been invited to be keynote speakers and lectured internationally, been on important design juries and have taught at the Royal College of Art. Their work is part of the permanent collection at Moma, Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design and important private collections.
